Global music legends take their red seats

January 31, 2025 — The Seven Network today unveiled its star-studded line-up of coaches for The Voice in 2025, with three global music legends set to take their seat alongside a returning favourite in the brand-new season, coming to Seven and 7plus later this year.

International chart-topping artist Melanie C aka Sporty Spice, GRAMMY Award-winning singer-songwriter Richard Marx, and multi-platinum selling hitmaker Ronan Keating will join genre-defying singer-songwriter and returning coach Kate Miller-Heidke on the iconic red chairs as they compete to unearth and guide Australia’s next vocal sensation.

Melanie C said: “I am so incredibly excited to be joining The Voice Australia in 2025! I have always cherished my trips down under over the years, so to be there with such a super line up of coaches in one of my favourite countries is a real honour. Also very happy to be missing some of the British winter! Very much looking forward to unearthing some brilliant talent to join Team Melanie.”

Richard Marx said: “I’m really looking forward to being a coach on this new season of The Voice for a number of reasons. Primarily, I’m excited to have the opportunity to meet and nurture some truly talented singers. But I’m also just very happy to be coming to stay in Australia for an extended time. My love affair with Oz began in 1977 when I was 13 and my parents brought me with them for a month-long trip. After many more visits on tour playing to thousands and thousands of Aussie fans, it’s become a home away from home. This will be an unforgettable experience and I’m so ready to get started!”

Ronan Keating said: “I’ve had a love affair with Australia since I first set foot on Aussie shores nearly three decades ago, so I can’t wait to get back to the country where I also met and fell in love with my wife. A country that I now have family and feel right at home in. To be back in the big red chair on The Voice Australia in 2025 is going to be really special, especially alongside Melanie C, Kate and Richard. I’m sure we’re going to be spoilt with some amazing undiscovered voices and I can’t wait to see who’s going to go all the way on Team Ronan.”

Kate Miller-Heidke said: “I’m absolutely stoked to be coming back to The Singing Olympics aka The Voice this year. I can’t wait to hear all the new voices. Singing is an endlessly fascinating art form with the mystical power of connecting people. I’m excited to meet the new coaches, all of whom are incredible artists, and to uncover some brand-new artists to join Team Kate. Let’s go!”

TV WEEK Gold Logie winner Sonia Kruger returns to host in 2025 as a new group of aspiring artists take to The Voice stage, eager to transform their singing dreams into a reality.

Truth

Seven Group Managing Director, Television, Angus Ross, said: “The Voice continues to captivate millions in its reign as one of Australia – and the world’s – biggest entertainment shows. With global music icons Melanie C, Richard and Ronan joining Aussie superstar Kate to battle it out in the big red chairs, this new era of The Voice promises to be our best yet!”

ITV Studios Australia CEO and Managing Director, David Mott, said: “ITV Studios is delighted to welcome Melanie C, Richard, and Ronan alongside the amazing Kate for what promises to be an extraordinary 14th season of The Voice. The Voice continues to bring outstanding talent and incredible moments to audiences, not just in Australia, but across the world. We are looking forward to another fantastic season and we are truly excited to share it with you.”

The 14th season of The Voice Australia goes into production in Sydney next month and will premiere later this year on Seven and 7plus.

Meet 2025’s powerhouse coaches:

Melanie C
@melaniecmusic

Across a 30+ year career, Melanie C has become a genuine pop culture phenomenon. After the iconic 1996 debut single Wannabe topped the charts in 37 countries, Spice Girls’ debut album Spice became the best-selling album of all time by a female group (the girls went on to sell more than 85 million records). As a solo artist, Melanie’s classics range from I Turn to You to Never Be the Same Again, which hit #2 on the ARIA Singles Chart, with her latest self-titled album receiving rave reviews in 2020 (“vital pop… her best work since she went it alone” – The Guardian, 4/5). Spice Girls toured stadia in 2019, where they witnessed for themselves the influence that Girl Power has had on a new generation of pop fans. Just days later, Melanie was back out on the road with the LGBTQ+ club collective Sink The Pink, continuing a career-long allyship which saw her honoured by Attitude at their 2022 Awards. Melanie became a Sunday Times best-selling author with the release of her long-awaited autobiography, Who I Am. In another first, she made her introduction into the world of contemporary dance in the critically acclaimed Sadler’s Wells show, how did we get here? Melanie C’s fashion influence was recognised in 2024 as she starred in a sportswear campaign for Palace and GAP, reimagining her long-standing love of the tracksuit. Melanie’s thriving DJ career continues to take her on more adventures, ranging from residencies in Ibiza to roadblock Glastonbury and Coachella appearances.

Richard Marx
@therichardmarx

Richard Marx is a GRAMMY-winning singer-songwriter whose influence spans four decades of music. Since his 1987 debut album, he has written 14 #1 hits across multiple genres – pop, rock, country, and R&B – and is one of only two artists (alongside Michael Jackson) to have scored a #1 single in four different decades. Known for classics like Right Here Waiting and Hazard, which both reached #1 in Australia, Marx’s work extends far beyond his own recordings, having written and produced for artists including Luther Vandross, Keith Urban, NSYNC, and Burt Bacharach. His 2020 memoir Stories to Tell became a national bestseller, and his latest album Songwriter (2023) showcases his continued artistic evolution through collaborations with contemporary stars. Marx continues to tour globally, including a sold-out performance at London’s Royal Albert Hall and an Australian co-headline tour with Tina Arena in 2024, while expanding into new creative territory with his new podcast/YouTube series “Stories to Tell”.

Ronan Keating
@rokeating

When Ronan Keating answered a newspaper advert to audition for a brand-new Irish boyband in 1993, he would have been hard pressed to believe that over 30 years later he would still be going strong. Solo artist, lead singer of Boyzone, songwriter, performer, broadcaster, TV presenter, actor, charity campaigner, loving husband and dedicated father. Ronan has sold over 45 million records worldwide as a solo artist and member of Boyzone, including three top 10 singles and eight top 10 albums as a solo artist in Australia. He has won an Ivor Novello Award, a World Music Award, the European Prize for Culture and was voted “Rear Of The Year 2003” in the UK. He has presented Eurovision, Miss World and the MTV Europe Music Awards (twice!), climbed Kilimanjaro, swam the Irish Channel and walked the length of Ireland to raise funds for his late mother’s memorial Marie Keating Foundation. He also ran the London Marathon and through his annual Emeralds & Ivy Ball has raised over £13,000,000 for Cancer Research UK. After co-hosting breakfast radio for seven years, appearing on The Voice Kids UK and The Voice of Germany, Ronan will be making a welcome return to The Voice Australia after a break of nine years, in which time he married Storm, his Australian wife, and welcomed Cooper and Coco to his family alongside his other children, Jack, Missy and Ali.

Kate Miller-Heidke
@katemillerheidke

Kate Miller-Heidke is an award-winning singer-songwriter who traverses the worlds of contemporary pop, folk, musical theatre, and opera. She has released five top 10 studio albums including O Vertigo!, Nightflight, and Curiouser – which featured the multiplatinum hits The Last Day On Earth and Caught In The Crowd – and her latest album, Child In Reverse. Trained as a classical singer at the Queensland Conservatorium, Kate has performed at the Metropolitan Opera in New York and several roles for the English National Opera. Her debut opera as a composer, The Rabbits, won four Helpmann Awards including Best Score and Best New Australian Work. With her collaborator Keir Nuttall, she wrote the music and lyrics to Muriel’s Wedding: The Musical, which won five Helpmann Awards including Best Original Score, and the musical comedy Bananaland, which recently completed runs at the 2023 Brisbane Festival and the 2024 Sydney Festival. Kate represented Australia at the Eurovision Song Competition in 2019 with her original song, Zero Gravity, achieving first place in her semi-final, top 10 in the grand final, and winning the coveted Marcel Bezançon Award for Artistic Achievement. She is performing throughout the country in February-March on The Telling Tales Tour of Australia (on sale now), before heading to London for the UK premiere season of Muriel’s Wedding The Musical and her first UK headline show in 10 years.
